Powering Transformative Change

Why I Serve

I joined the Transformative Changes Board because I believe in the power of community-led healing and the brilliance of Black organizers who imagine new futures. Serving on this board isn’t just a professional commitment, it’s a personal one. I’ve spent my career in spaces where young people, families, and communities are fighting to be seen, supported, and resourced. Transformative Changes is one of the few organizations that doesn’t just talk about justice—it practices it, models it, and builds it with intention.

Why This Matters

Healing justice and community care are not abstract concepts. They are survival strategies, cultural traditions, and pathways toward collective liberation. In a world where Black and Brown communities are disproportionately impacted by violence, inequity, and systemic neglect, Black-led organizations like Transformative Changes are essential. They create spaces where people can breathe, heal, organize, and grow. They remind us that transformation is possible when we invest in those closest to the work.

My Personal Story

I joined this Board because I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is when people have access to care, connection, and community. Throughout my work in education, youth development, and community programs, I’ve met countless individuals who carry heavy stories—stories of resilience, trauma, brilliance, and hope. What inspires me is watching people reclaim their narratives and build new ones rooted in healing and possibility.

This work matters now because our communities are navigating grief, uncertainty, and systemic challenges that require more than surface-level solutions. We need organizations that center humanity, joy, and justice. We need spaces where people can heal in community, not in isolation.
