Saul's Light helps New Orleans families navigate the trauma of the NICU journey and supports them through infant loss, ultimately improving perinatal outcomes. Pairing direct support for NICU families with advocacy at the provider, facility, and state levels to address disparities in care, experiences, and outcomes, Saul's Light is working to build a world in which all parents and babies experiencing a NICU stay or infant loss receive equitable, dignified, and evidence-based care as well as the support they need to have the best possible mental and physical health outcomes.
I joined the Saul's Light Board of Directors because of their work supporting families with premature babies. As all of you well know, I was born 14 weeks early in 1978, weighing just 1 lb 9 oz, and spent over 3 months in the NICU at Ochsner on Jefferson Hwy. I can only imagine how overwhelming an experience it was for my parents, and how much they would have benefited from an organization like Saul’s Light.
Through mutual aid, education, direct support, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy, Saul's Light is building a sustainable model to improve perinatal outcomes in New Orleans.
Thank you for your support of Saul's Light and your donation during Give Nola Day.
