Saul's Light Foundation

Saul's Light helps New Orleans families navigate the trauma of the NICU journey and supports them through infant loss, ultimately improving perinatal outcomes. Pairing direct support for NICU families with advocacy at the provider, facility, and state levels to address disparities in care, experiences, and outcomes, Saul's Light is working to build a world in which all parents and babies experiencing a NICU stay or infant loss receive equitable, dignified, and evidence-based care as well as the support they need to have the best possible mental and physical health outcomes.

Saul's Light is creating a community and healthcare system where birthing people have access to equitable, evidence-based NICU care. Through mutual aid, education, direct support, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy, Saul's Light is building a sustainable model to improve perinatal outcomes in New Orleans.

Each year, hundreds of families face the overwhelming reality of a NICU stay-often without the financial, emotional, or logistical support needed. Saul's Light exists to change that.

Since 2015, we've supported over 700 families across all seven New Orleans NICUs. Our NICU Family Fund helps cover transportation, housing, meals, and emergency bills so parents can stay close to their babies and participate fully in care.

We offer peer mentorship, culturally responsive provider education, the NOLA Milk Truck, and Little NICU Libraries to promote bonding, literacy, and access to human milk. Families facing infant loss also receive compassionate support and time to create lasting memories.

Closing gaps in care and uplifting families in crisis, Saul's Light is building a future where no parent faces the NICU journey alone and every family has the chance to heal, grow, and thrive.
