MH Boxes began with one girl, one idea, and one big heart.
At just 12 years old, Mila Henry knew what it felt like to struggle with her mental health and not see herself reflected in the resources around her. So, she created what she wished had existed—a care package filled with tools to help girls like her feel seen, supported, and safe.
That first box sparked a movement.
Today, MH Boxes is a Black-led, youth-powered nonprofit on a mission to support the mental health of Black adolescent girls through culturally affirming care packages and peer support. We’ve now delivered over 1,600 boxes across Virginia and beyond—to girls in hospitals, foster care, group homes, and schools—providing comfort, community, and tools for healing.
Our Board of Directors is committed to ensuring this mission continues to grow. We believe every Black girl deserves access to support that reflects her identity, uplifts her voice, and reminds her that she is never alone.
This is more than a fundraiser—it’s an investment in hope, healing, and the next generation of leaders.
