Today is Giving Day (8/28) and we are celebrating the story behind Black Collegiate Musicians (BCM).
This picture was taken at Brianna & Alexi's graduation from the Eastman School of Music, the place that became the incubator for BCM.

All three of us were deeply involved in Eastman’s Black Students’ Union, and together we dreamed of building a space where students like us could thrive, not struggle because of lack of resources or lack of representation.
That dream became Black Collegiate Musicians, an organization dedicated to providing students with access to financial, professional, and mental health resources. Through a network of support, we aim to uplift students as they navigate their journeys in higher education and beyond.
On this day in 1963, more than 250,000 people gathered for the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech. That call for justice and opportunity continues to guide us.
💡 BCM was founded on the truth that we are our ancestors’ wildest dreams.
We are also celebrating our 1-year anniversary on September 4th and are aiming to raise $5,000 to continue empowering Black collegiate musicians
On this Giving Day, we invite you to help us carry that dream forward. All donations go directly toward our in-person Professional Development Days hosted at our partner colleges. These full-day experiences provide students with group bonding activities, one-on-one career discussions, professional headshots, and more.
Your support allows us to expand opportunities, build community, and help the next generation of musicians not just survive in these spaces but thrive.
🌟 Join us on this Giving Day to continue the dream. If you’re unable to donate, please share our story and help us reach more people.
