24 HOURS TO GIVING DAY
Tomorrow, August 28, Black Collegiate Musicians launches Giving Day 828, and we need you with us.
Our goal is $2,000, and every dollar goes directly to our in-person Professional Development Days at partner colleges. These are full days built around students: career conversations with working professionals, complimentary headshots, and a room full of peers who understand the road they are walking.
How to prepare:
Set a reminder for tomorrow morning.
Decide what you can give, at any level.
Tell one person why this matters to you.
One day. $2,000. A generation of musicians who deserve every door open to them.
See you tomorrow!
BUILDING FUTURE LEADERS
Giving Day: August 28
Black Collegiate Musicians began with three students and one shared question: what would it look like if Black musicians in higher education had everything they needed to thrive?
Brittney (MM '22), Brianna (BM '23), and Alexis (MA '23) met through the Black Students' Union at the Eastman School of Music. Eastman became the incubator for something bigger than any one campus. Between rehearsals, juries, and late-night conversations, they mapped out an organization built around a simple conviction: no student should have to choose between their artistry and their wellbeing, and no student should have to navigate these spaces alone.
That vision became Black Collegiate Musicians (BCM), an organization dedicated to connecting Black collegiate musicians with financial, professional, and mental health resources. Through a national network of support, BCM uplifts students as they navigate higher education and the industry beyond it.
Where Your Gift Goes
The goal for Giving Day is $2,000.
Every dollar raised goes directly to BCM's in-person Professional Development Days, hosted at partner colleges. These full-day experiences give students group bonding activities, one-on-one career discussions, professional headshots, and more. They are the difference between a student knowing an opportunity exists and a student being ready to walk through the door.
