Dear Friends,
This August, as we celebrate Black Philanthropy Month and Give 8/28, I invite you to join me in supporting MORTAR through our Black Philanthropy Begins at Home campaign.
For generations, Black communities have shown us what true philanthropy looks like. It's not just about large gifts or big checks, it's about neighbors sharing what they have, opening doors for each other, and building a future where everyone can thrive. It's love of people in action. It begins at home.
MORTAR embodies this spirit. Our new home in the historic Durner Building isn't just a physical space, it's a place where entrepreneurs and creatives can gather, collaborate, and grow. With coworking areas, event space for workshops, pop-ups and community gatherings, this building is specifically designed to nuture ideas and transform them into thriving businesses.
Why Now?
Black Philanthropy Month is a call to honor the rich tradition of collective care in our communities. Give 8/28 is the only national giving day dedicated to Black-led and Black-benefiting organizations. This is our chance to show what it looks like to invest in each other and to celebrate the power of coming home.
Why MORTAR?
MORTAR is creating more than opportunities, it's creating legacy. By supporting MORTAR, you're helping historically marginalized entrepreneurs build generational wealth, strengthen our neighborhoods, and inspire future leaders.
How You Can Help:
Give: Every gift, no matter the size, is a testament to the power of community care.
Share: Spread the word and invite others to join this movement of homegrown generosity.
Let's come together to show that true philanthropy begins at home, in the everyday acts of love and support that help our communities rise.
Thank you for believing in this vision and for putting love into action with MORTAR.
