Achieving Success on Purpose

Our Story

On August 28, 2012, Dr. Kareem Puranda founded Achieving Success On Purpose (ASOP) with a vision to create opportunities and inspire hope for underserved communities throughout Charlotte, North Carolina. Under his leadership, ASOP has grown into a trusted nonprofit organization supported by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and community partners committed to making a lasting impact.

Through meaningful partnerships with local organizations and businesses, ASOP has provided free chess instruction at libraries and recreation centers, hosted back to school backpack and food drives, and participated in initiatives to serve individuals experiencing homelessness.

In 2019, ASOP expanded its impact by operating year round and launching comprehensive youth programming. Today, ASOP provides life skills education, parenting workshops, evidence based curricula, and free individual, family, and group counseling for at risk youth, youth involved in the juvenile justice system, and young adults with first time offenses.

ASOP is more than an organization. It is a mindset and a commitment to intentional growth. We believe success begins with renewing the mind and making purposeful choices, regardless of life's circumstances. While adversity is often unavoidable, the way we respond to challenges shapes our character, builds resilience, and creates opportunities for growth. Every obstacle has the potential to become a stepping stone toward a brighter future.
