At the Young, Black & Giving Back Institute (YBGB), we believe in the power of representative leadership to strengthen communities and create lasting change. This year, your support on Give 8/28 will go directly toward two key areas that fuel our impact:

Do Good YBGB Fellows- This unique collaboration between the Do Good Institute at the University of Maryland and the Young, Black, and Giving Back Institute (YBGB) offers an exceptional educational opportunity tailored for nonprofit leaders eager to invest in their growth and professional development. Fellows are identified based on their experience leading nonprofits that service underrepresented communities, and become eligible to receive funding from the Do Good Institute and YBGB to support tuition costs that may cover up to 90% of tuition costs.

 

Benefactors: A Black Giving Collective Giving Circle – A national giving circle committed to empowering Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofits. Inspired by the impactful legacy of Black Benefactors, whose 15-year journey paved the way, has been a guiding light as we embark on this new chapter of collective giving.

Utilizing the extensive network cultivated through the Young, Black & Giving Back Institute’s successful Give 8/28 day of giving, Benefactors serves as a hub for over 1000 organizations and counting. This network forms the backbone of our collective efforts, providing a springboard to support nonprofits across the country.

Our mission is clear: to allocate our collective resources across a spectrum of issue areas, bolstering the capacity and sustainability of Black-led and serving organizations across the country. By doing so, we enable these organizations to continue their invaluable work of uplifting the communities they serve, while also welcoming new partners that will continue to filter annually through Give 8/28.

Our vision is for a generation of black Gen-Xers and Millennials to effectively sustain innovative solutions to their communities most pressing issues through philanthropic giving.
