About Us

Thrive Liberation Collective is a nonprofit in Charlotte, NC, with a mission to prepare Black youth and young adults to thrive through civic wellness and community care — empowering them to live fully, lead boldly, and liberate completely.

We serve Black youth and young adults ages 13–30 who are often left out of traditional civic spaces — not because they don't care, but because they're exhausted by systems never built for them. We work on Charlotte's East side, a diverse and historic part of the city that receives far less attention and investment.

At Thrive, we don't start with programs; we start with people. Instead of asking our community to push through exhaustion, we ask a different question: what would it look like to build power from a place of clarity, connection, and care? We build toward that through community care, joy and rest, and liberated capacity, the clarity and confidence to lead.

Our Programs

  • Sunday Fellowship — A bi-monthly dinner series bringing Black youth, young adults, and community members together to share a meal, build relationships, and engage in joyful, intergenerational conversation about purpose, community, and civic life.

  • Safe Space — A five-week healing-centered leadership experience for high school students, built around three questions: Who is my community? Is my community a safe space? Am I a safe space for others? Students explore identity, belonging, emotional wellness, and their role in community care. Launching fall 2026 in a Title I high school in East Charlotte.

  • Ballot Breakdown Videos — Short, accessible videos breaking down what's on the ballot in local, state, and federal elections, helping young voters understand how systems work and why their voices matter.

Where Thrive Is Right Now

Thrive was founded in 2022. Last year we raised $27,336, served 79 people, completed our civic wellness curriculum, grew our board to eleven, and were selected for the Charlotte Urban Institute's Data Stewards Initiative.

Four years of building, and this is the year it goes into a school.

Your gift funds that fall.

Your gift helps us:

  • Launch Safe Space this September — five weeks of belonging, leadership, and civic wellness inside a Title I high school in East Charlotte
  • Keep Sunday Fellowship free and fed, every table, every time
  • Keep Ballot Breakdown videos coming ahead of the November elections
  • Cover the unglamorous things that keep a small nonprofit standing: the software, the insurance, the hours

Ways to Give

Become a Vision Partner — $500 or more. Sponsor a young person for the year, and then some.

Save a seat for a year — $37.50 a month. That's $450 over a year: one young person carried through all of Thrive's programming. Monthly gifts support us in planning for our programming.

Or give whatever you can. Every gift helps fund our fall. No amount is too small to matter.

Help Us Thrive

When you give to Thrive, you're investing in a generation ready to heal, grow, and lead. Not from burnout, but from brilliance.

Save a seat, and help make thriving the norm.
