Propeller: Where Entrepreneurs Come to Grow

A group of volunteers formed Propeller in 2009 to respond to the community’s economic needs after Hurricane Katrina and a failed levee system inundated our houses and businesses. 

Propeller is a 501c3 nonprofit that grows and supports entrepreneurs to tackle social and environmental disparities. Our vision is an inclusive and thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in New Orleans that responds to community needs and creates the conditions for an equitable future. 

To realize this vision, Propeller provides expert technical assistance, business development workshops, and network-enhancing events that connect Black entrepreneurs to the capital, community, contracts, and connections needed to grow thriving and impactful enterprises. 

Since 2011, Propeller has served 300+ entrepreneurs through our cornerstone Impact Accelerator and over 1000 entrepreneurs in total across our programming. Propeller participants have reported generating $337MM+ in revenue, $34MM+ in financing, and over 1,100 jobs, making a measurable social impact in New Orleans and beyond.
