MISSION

SEAC Inc. (Seaton Empowering Action in the Community) provides programs and supports activities to improve the quality of life for children, families, and seniors in Prince George's County, Maryland.  

SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES

 SEAC, Inc. partners on projects with schools, civic associations, and other non-profits with shared goals to maximize our resources.  We award scholarships to assist graduating or recently graduated high school seniors attend college.  And we launch programs to address specific needs in our community.

Through its grass roots efforts and community partnerships SEAC, Inc. successfully: 

• Established the Mathematics Enrichment Program (MAP) in partnership with Thomas Johnson Middle School and its Parent Teachers Student Association to help students who were at risk of failing mathematics, in which approximately 50 students participated with a 95% attendance record
• Helped launch and co-sponsors Once Upon a Gown to provide students who may not have the financial means access to gently used prom gowns, shoes, and/or accessories.   For more information please visit www.onceuponagown.org.   
• Partnered with local organizations to award scholarships to high school students from Prince George’s County
• Provided clothing to a family left homeless after a tragic fire
• Partnered with local non-profit organizations to provide meals to needy families including
• Launched a Continuing Scholars Program to assist college students while in school

MAP (Math Achievers Program)

We just completed our fourth year of #MAP (Math Achievers Program), our 6- week free math enrichment program for middle school students, designed to address the strikingly low proficiency of County middle school stdudents in math.  After revamping the program to provide it online, we were able to serve 31 middle school students and their families, and provide stipends to 6 Student Math Coaches and our Program Coordinator.  Back in March we didn't know if we could pull off the program this summer, but with determination, faith, and the tireless commitment of several volunteers we successfully completed the program virtually!
