Help OAR Raise $15,000 for Direct Participant Support

OAR of Arlington, Alexandria, and Falls Church journeys with individuals and families impacted by the criminal legal system. For more than 50 years, we have worked alongside our community to provide support, create alternatives to incarceration, and confront the systemic inequities that disproportionately impact Black communities.

Right now, we are raising $15,000 for direct participant support.

Returning to the community after incarceration can mean rebuilding many parts of your life. Finding safe housing. Getting to work. Reconnecting with family. Accessing food, clothing, medical care, and technology. Managing debt. Navigating systems that often create additional barriers instead of removing them.

For many of the individuals and families we journey with, one unexpected expense can create a significant barrier to stability.

That is where your support can make an immediate difference.

Donations to OAR help participants meet needs such as:

  • Housing and emergency assistance
  • Food and clothing
  • Transportation
  • Phones, data plans, internet access, and laptops
  • Medical, mental health, and wellness support
  • Childcare and family reunification needs
  • Employment-related expenses
  • Debt repayment
  • Other urgent needs identified by participants

At OAR, participants determine what support they need. We listen, build authentic relationships, and journey alongside each person as they identify their goals and the resources that can help them move forward.

OAR is a Collective, non-dominant, decolonizing, pro-Black, racially just, radically joyful, deeply loving, come-as-you-are, liberated organization. We recognize that racism and systemic inequities within the criminal legal system have caused profound harm to Black individuals, families, and communities.

Our work responds to both the immediate impact of these systems and the systems themselves.

We journey with individuals returning to the community after incarceration and their families. We provide alternative sentencing options for youth and adults that help keep people connected to their families and communities. And we work upstream to confront racism and advance our shared vision of justice, joy, and liberation for all.

Help Us Reach $15,000

Every gift moves us closer to our goal and puts resources directly toward supporting individuals and families impacted by the criminal legal system.

Your gift can help a participant access housing, get to work, put food on the table, reconnect with family, access care, or meet another immediate need.

Give today, share OAR's campaign, and invite others to join you.

Together, we can raise $15,000 and ensure that participants have tangible support as they return to the community, reconnect, and move forward.
