$35,000 Goal

Based in Atlanta, GA, NBAF is recognized as the oldest multidisciplinary arts organization in the United States focused exclusively on the art and artists of African descent. Through its annual public programs, world-class performances, commissioned works, arts education and public programs, NBAF offers local, national and international audiences experiences that are extraordinary and enriching.

NBAF NEEDS YOUR HELP TO FINISH THE YEAR STRONG!

Georgia currently ranks 50th in the nation for arts funding. With the continued proposed cuts to local arts budgets, NBAF's 35-year legacy of supporting and presenting Black Art could be in jeopardy. We need your support now more than ever!

ARTIST PROJECT FUND GRANT

NBAF launched the Artist Project Fund (APF) Grant in 2020 as a COVID relief fund to support Black Artists in getting back to work and continue projects stalled by the pandemic by supporting them in creating digital platforms.

Since then, APF has evolved to support 20 professional artists each year with a $2000 grant as well as immersive artistic and career development experiences to foster a sense of community and creative collaboration and provide each participant with the tools they need to grow as creative entrepreneurs!

NBAF's APF grant has funded over 100 artists with grants totaling over $100,000! https://nbaf.org/artist-project-fund/

YOUTH ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS:

Move/Dance! Program:

The program, created in 2016, encourages and nurtures the talent and aspirations of middle school students while supporting the school, parents, and guardians with their academic, health and wellness goals. The program marries the creative arts with the goal of addressing prevalent health issues such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and other conditions that plague our communities.

The program utilizes teaching artists who teach various dance forms from the 18th to the 21st centuries. They also teach classroom etiquette and act as mentors and role models. Their lessons are based on a new curriculum on Black dance developed by NBAF to match the Atlanta School system’s curriculum standards and goals.

NextGen Artist Program

The NBAF NextGen Artist Program provides resources and exposure to the film/media, visual arts, and fashion design industries for students engaged in the program. The program goals include increased presentation skills (written and verbal), improved academic success, an increased appreciation for the arts, and access to pathways to higher education and careers in the arts.

The program provides a structured artistic experience with workshops, classes, lectures, mentoring, business and professional development, and opportunities for competitive scholarships. This transformational experience is designed to support the educational goals of our partner schools, and the workforce development-based curriculum is curated to recognize and nurture the students' unique talents in diverse creative arts disciplines. https://nbaf.org/youth-programs/
