Who We Are

Mosaic Movements is an interdisciplinary arts organization advancing justice through diasporic storytelling and cultural work. We illuminate the stories and creative work of Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Queer artists—voices often erased by dominant narratives. Through performances, exhibitions, workshops, and multimedia projects, we create space for truth, cultural memory, and liberation. Rooted in community, healing, and radical imagination, our work empowers artists as cultural leaders and changemakers.

Why We’re Raising $50,000

Our goal for Give 8/28 is to raise $50,000 to sustain and expand our programs that uplift historically excluded artists across Sarasota and Manatee counties.

Your donation helps us grow our reach, provide vital resources to artists, and ensure that the stories often left untold by dominant culture are honored, shared, and celebrated.

Together, we can build a future where art fuels justice, healing, and collective belonging

What Your Donation Supports

Your gift directly funds:

  • Live Performances – We produce stage productions and public showcases that center diasporic narratives and cultural truths. These events create space for historically excluded stories to be seen, heard, and honored—shifting the cultural landscape toward justice and inclusion.

  • Mosaic Narratives Project – Through documentary film, photography, and visual storytelling, this project highlights the lived experiences of Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Queer communities. Your support helps preserve cultural memory and make these stories accessible through mobile exhibitions and screenings that spark dialogue and understanding.

  • Artist Development – Mosaic Movements is the only organization in the Sarasota-Manatee region providing business-in-the-arts artist development specifically for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ artists. Through workshops, residencies, microgrants, and our Creative Nexus Artist Summit, we equip artists with the tools, networks, and creative space needed to grow sustainable, thriving careers. Your donation invests directly in economic justice, creative entrepreneurship, and long-term impact.

  • NextGen Creators Program – Arts education, summer arts and technology classes taught by professional teaching artists in partnership with youth programs. This initiative creates access to creative learning, mentorship, and performance opportunities for youth ages 13–24—nurturing the next generation of artists, innovators, and cultural leaders.

  • Borderless Arts Exchange – A justice-rooted learning initiative that engages artists in transformative experiences through travel, cultural exchange, and community-based arts education. Your gift supports deeper intercultural understanding, personal healing, and collaborative storytelling across borders and communities.

Our Impact So Far

In just two years, Mosaic Movements has:

  • Supported 60+ BIPOC and LGBTQ+ artists with creative resources, business-in-the-arts development, branding and career planning workshops, and the Creative Nexus Artist Summit—advancing equity and economic opportunity in the regional arts ecosystem.

  • Reached over 500 community members through events, exhibitions, and workshops that center erased stories, build cultural awareness, and foster collective healing.

  • Produced 8+ live performances and 2 original documentaries, including Warriors of Sarasota, preserving cultural memory and amplify underrepresented narratives through public storytelling.

  • Launched the NextGen Creators Youth Artist Meet-Up, an intergenerational event where youth and their families explored a wide range of art forms through hands-on sessions led by local teaching artists of color and queer artists. The event provided culturally affirming creative experiences, increased exposure to professional artists from their own communities, and helped destigmatize the arts as a viable and valuable career path—empowering the next generation of cultural leaders to see themselves in the field of arts and creative entrepreneurship.

  • Built Casa Caney, a monthly gathering for BIPOC artists to connect, collaborate, and build solidarity—creating a grassroots support network for artistic innovation and community resilience.

  • Established 501(c)(3) nonprofit status as the Peace Education and Action Center, Inc., DBA Mosaic Movements—laying the groundwork for sustainable growth, long-term impact, and expanded access to arts and equity programming across the region.

Mosaic Movements is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit under the Peace Education and Action Center, Inc. Your support helps amplify the voices of Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Queer artists whose stories have too often been ignored or erased by dominant culture.
