Isaiah House is thrilled to participate in Give 8/28 this year!

Since 2018 Give 8/28 has been a day to celebrate and uplift Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofit organizations. Isaiah House is a majority Black led organization – 11 of the 12 members of our management team are Black and many are alums of HBCUs like Howard University, Virginia State and Shaw University. Isaiah House is proud to recently have had partnerships with the Maplewood Oranges Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Mu Boule, BRWL and through the years: Divine 9, Jack and Jill of America and local AME churches.

Throughout our almost 35 years of operation, Isaiah House has been an important resource for Black residents in East Orange and the Greater Newark region. As we continue our work, please consider uplifting our staff and mission with a donation of $82 or more to help us get to our goal of $10,000.

Why 8/28? Many don’t realize that some of the most historically significant tragedies and triumphs of the African American experience took place on this day:

  • The murder of Emmett Till                                                       August 28, 1955
  • Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech              August 28, 1963
  • Barack Obama’s nomination for President                           August 28, 2008
