Mission Statement

Home4Me, “A Voice for Teens in Foster Care,” provides Hope, Opportunities, Mentoring, and Education (HOME)—and a sense of family—to teens in and aging out of foster care, while addressing the critical issue of homelessness. Guided by our “Together We Win” philosophy and strategic partnerships, we walk with our young people to build a personalized wellness ecosystem that supports their health, healing, housing stability, financial security, college readiness, and lifelong connections. We guide them through college and beyond to ensure they overcome adversity and achieve successful, self-sufficient, healthy lives.

Vision Statement:

To create a world where every young person aging out of foster care is surrounded and supported by lifelong connections, equipped with the tools for success, and empowered to thrive—emotionally, financially, and academically—with no fear of homelessness, only hope for a healthy, self-sufficient life.

Founders Message:

I was left in the hospital at birth and ultimately in an orphanage until the day Mary Johnson walked in the door and saw a little girl sitting in a corner, looking around with eyes filled with little hope. I was not released for adoption and, therefore, raised in foster care.

When I turned 18 years old, I thought I knew enough. I moved a thousand miles away from home (from Hartford, CT to Beaufort, SC) only to discover I was not ready for the world that I was now all alone in. Now facing the reality of what aged-out foster youth fear, and married at 18, thinking that was a safety net, I escaped the abusive marriage with 3 babies at the age of 22. Determined not to be a statistic and learning from the opportunities I had growing up is what kept me on a path to a successful life despite my circumstances.

Realizing college was a must to provide a good life for my daughters, I earned my degree in Business while rocking 3 babies, and handcrafting my way off the welfare system. I have gone from foster care, spent time on welfare, and now receiving Medicare, and less is being done now for our foster teens than when I was in the system. But you and I can change the story for this generation.

Now, my life is dedicated and my eyes are filled with vision and my heart is filled with determination to partner with those who desire to make a difference in the lives of teens who are in and aging out of foster care so when we look into their eyes they see hope and a successful, safe, happy and healthy future.

Donate and change the future of a teen aging out of foster care.

Thank you so much! Ms. Donna Reed
