HIGH VOLTAGE, INC. IMPACT AND LEADERSHIP

High Voltage volunteers, community and business partners have joined to meet the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and several hurricanes that devastated the Gulf Coast.  For several years, High Voltage has provided Bags of Hope filled with personal hygiene products and school supplies to the homeless population (children, youth, adults, and families) in homeless shelters throughout New Orleans.  As a result of these simultaneous crises, High Voltage started working with the Louisiana Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) to provide additional relief throughout the State of Louisiana.

In 2020, our Bags of Hope Project provided hundreds of facemasks, gallons of hand sanitizer, gloves, soap, diapers, sanitary products, etc.  to families impacted by Hurricanes Laura and Delta.    The Bags were given to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services and the American Red Cross for distribution.

In 2021, High Voltage partnered with the Omaha Storm Chasers baseball team, Union Omaha Soccer Club, ABC Supply Company and Werner Enterprises to bring over 42,000 lbs of relief to Hurricane Ida victims.

High Voltage also partnered with Essence, Inc. in 2021 for Action for Access Initiative to provide support to our senior citizen population.  Several of our volunteers participated in the online version of the Essence Music Festival.    During the past 2 1/2 years, our take home summer reading program has helped to improve the reading skills of over 100 students. As we look to August 28, it remembers of all we have survived from Hurricane Katrina to Hurricane Ida.  We are moving with continued resilience to improve our city, State of Louisiana and nation.

High Voltage partnered with Winn-Dixie Community Bag program in 2022 to raise funds for World Central Kitchen to help provide meals for the Ukrainian people.

In August of 2023, thanks to the support of our community partner Hands on New Orleans, we received and distributed 150 Senior Cool Kits to senior citizens living in public housing to protect them from the Extreme Heat in New Orleans.
