Welcome to CASA!

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)/ Prince George's County, Inc. is a volunteer-based organization that partners with the juvenile court to improve the lives of abused and neglected children living in foster care. With a strong commitment to diversity, CASA, Prince George's County trains and supervises volunteers from the community who advocate for the best interest of children, recognizing and respecting each child's individual needs. By providing a voice to children in the foster care system, it is the goal of CASA, Prince George's County to promote the timely placement of the children we serve in safe, permanent homes.

Each year CASA serves approximately 200 young people in foster care per year through volunteer advocacy. This is about 40% of the youth in care in Prince George's County.

Throughout the past year, the organization achieved the following:

  • Youth Advocacy & Services: Provided advocacy support to 168 young people, which represents 40% of the youth in care in the county. Additionally, 140 youth received transition-aged services like job readiness and educational support.
  • Volunteer & Financial Support: A total of 140 volunteers contributed over 8,500 hours. The organization provided over $50,000 in emergency support to current and former foster care youth.
  • Guaranteed Income Program: The Thrive program provided 50 participants with guaranteed income and resource support, distributing over $500,000.
  • Volunteer Training: 47 new volunteers were trained, with 37 successfully completing the training.

The youth served by CASA are predominantly Black, making up about 75% of the total. Our volunteer base is also primarily Black, comprising 62% of the volunteers.

"CASA is grateful to be a part of GIVE828. This is more than just a fundraising day; it's an opportunity to highlight the critical work nonprofits are doing every day. We value the work of volunteers, community support, and partnership with our youth. This day of giving is a powerful way to show our community that their well-being is a priority. We are so grateful for the support that will allow us to continue providing vital advocacy and resources to young people in foster care."
