About The Lab
The Colored Girls Liberation Lab (CGLL or The Lab) is an intergenerational healing, dreaming, and innovation space designed specifically for Black women, particularly those in their mid-life awakening. Rooted in Afrofuturism and community design, CGLL provides transformative experiences that empower Black women to heal from intergenerational wounds, reimagine possibilities, and embrace their most liberated selves. Through curated fellowships, immersive retreats, and communal learning experiences, we foster a culture of radical dreaming, rest, joy, and pleasure—core elements of our Liberation Bloomprint™ framework. We believe healed, healthy, and whole Black women build healed, healthy, and whole communities.
Our Programs & Offerings
The Lab’s flagship programs create space for healing, connection, and visionary leadership:
BLOOM Liberation Fellowship – A transformative cohort experience for Black women in midlife seeking liberation, rest, and joy. The 12-week fellowship includes bi-weekly sessions, one-on-one dream coaching, workshops with experts, and culminates in a luxury retreat for embodied rest and collective dreaming.
Dreams & Schemes™️ – A weekly community gathering where Black women share dreams, hold each other accountable, and build a network of collective support.
Glory Days Storytelling Residency – A four-month immersive program that provides Black women with dedicated space, resources, and support to craft and share their personal narratives. Through storytelling workshops, mentorship from experienced writers and artists, and community-building sessions, participants will explore the power of their lived experiences.
Reverie: A Radical Futuring Supper Club – A curated dining experience that blends Afrofuturist visioning, storytelling, and communal nourishment, inspiring Black women to dream and design liberated futures.
Skip Day Retreats & SistaCircles – Restorative, day-long retreats and short-form courses that center joy, creativity, shared learning, and intentional pause.
Liberation in Bloom™ Tools & Resources – A collection of reflection decks, guided journals, and digital offerings designed to support everyday liberation practices.
Impact & Why It Matters
Black women are at the forefront of social change, yet often navigate the intersecting burdens of systemic racism and gender-based oppression that hinder rest, pleasure, and possibility. The Lab exists to disrupt this cycle by providing Black women with space to heal, dream, and innovate—because when Black women are free, we all are.
Since our founding, we have:
Supported hundreds of Black women in reclaiming their joy, dreaming boldly, and prioritizing rest through our fellowships and gatherings.
Built a thriving online and in-person community where Black women can connect, collaborate, and co-create.
Developed culturally relevant frameworks like the Liberation Bloomprint™, which provides a roadmap for sustained healing and radical imagination.
CGLL is more than a space; it’s a movement. By investing in Black women’s healing and dreaming, we are shaping a future where liberation is not only imagined but fully realized.
We invite funders and partners to join us in resourcing this vision, ensuring that more Black women can access the tools, spaces, and support needed to live freely and fully.
