City Teaching Alliance is building a more just and effective educator workforce - one that reflects the students it serves and is prepared to drive long-term success in historically underserved schools. We are proud to be led by Dr. Rahesha Amon, a Black woman and lifelong educator whose leadership is rooted in equity, representation, and results.
Our innovative model provides two years of immersive teacher preparation, including a master’s degree, classroom residency, and mentorship, followed by two years of career cultivation and leadership development. This approach not only prepares teachers to enter the classroom; it also prepares them to stay and lead. In fact, 91% of our alumni remain in education beyond the program, and 96% of principals report that our teachers positively impact student learning.
We are intentional about who we recruit: 76% of our newest cohort identify as people of color, and 40% are first-generation college graduates. Since our founding in 2009, our teachers have reached more than 450,000 students across public schools in Baltimore, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC.
Why Give on 8/28?
Give 8/28 is a national day of giving in support of Black-led and Black-benefiting organizations. Your donation powers our work, expands access to inclusive and community-rooted teacher pipelines, and strengthens educational equity nationwide.
