Health Within Reach: Year-Round Community Care

For more than a decade, Dissipating Disparities, Inc. (DDI) has brought free health screenings, wellness education, trusted healthcare professionals, and community resources directly to families throughout rural Middle Georgia.

Our annual Saving Ourselves FREE Health Fair & Community Expo has become a trusted community tradition. This year, DDI is continuing that work while building something even bigger: a year-round Pop-Up Health & Resource Fair model that brings services closer to where people live, worship, learn, and gather.

For many of the families we serve, access to preventive care is not simple. Transportation, cost, limited insurance coverage, provider shortages, health literacy challenges, and distance from services can all become barriers. Even when resources exist, getting to them can be difficult.

DDI works to remove those barriers by meeting communities where they are.

With support from Give 8/28 donors, DDI will continue our annual free health fair while expanding smaller, recurring Pop-Up Health & Resource Fairs in churches, community centers, neighborhoods, housing communities, schools, and other trusted spaces.

These events can connect residents with free preventive screenings, health and wellness education, mental health resources, financial literacy tools, family resources, healthcare professionals, and community organizations that can help them take the next step toward better health and greater stability.

Bringing those opportunities directly into a community can remove the barrier that once kept someone from participating at all.

DDI's mission is to eliminate disparities and empower communities through Awareness, Acceptance, and Action in health and wellness, education, and financial literacy. Our community-rooted work has touched more than 10,000 lives, but there is still much more to do.
