One Omaha

One Omaha was founded on a simple belief: the people who live in a neighborhood should have a voice in shaping its future.

As a Black-led nonprofit, we work alongside residents to strengthen neighborhoods through education, leadership development, community engagement, and resident-driven solutions. We believe thriving neighborhoods are built when people are connected to one another, informed about issues affecting their community, and equipped with the tools to create change.

Too often, decisions are made about communities without the people most impacted by those decisions at the table. One Omaha exists to change that.

We help residents build relationships with their neighbors, develop leadership skills, engage in civic life, access information and resources, and work together to address local challenges. From supporting neighborhood leaders and community conversations to conducting research that amplifies resident voices, our work is rooted in the belief that communities already possess the strengths needed to create positive change.

Today, One Omaha is leading initiatives that bring together residents, nonprofits, businesses, health systems, government agencies, and community leaders to create a stronger, more connected city. Our current work includes a citywide Neighborhood Needs Assessment, neighborhood leadership development, health equity initiatives, resident engagement efforts, and Good Neighbor Week, a citywide celebration of connection, service, and belonging.

What makes One Omaha different is our commitment to listening first. We don't believe solutions should be imposed on communities. We believe residents are experts in their own experiences. Our role is to create opportunities for people to be heard, build bridges between communities and institutions, and help turn ideas into action.

Your support helps us invest directly in residents and neighborhoods. Contributions help fund community engagement efforts, leadership development opportunities, neighborhood-based projects, resident outreach, translation and accessibility services, volunteer coordination, and the tools needed to ensure community voices are reflected in decisions that affect their lives.
