And we are building our capacity to steward LANGSTON for generations to come.

Our mission is to strengthen and advance our community through Black arts and culture with a vision of cultivating Black brilliance.

Our values include:

These principles serve as the guiding light for our diverse range of programs, initiatives, and partnerships. At LANGSTON, we are dedicated to creating a future where arts and culture play an integral role in building a stronger, more vibrant, and more united community.

This year we are celebrating our 10th year anniversary with a Legacy in Action. LANGSTON is shaped by those who came before us and held by those who show up today:

We honor our elders by sustaining the work they imagined. 

We support Black artists and creatives with funding and space to create and share their art.

We invest in youth for our collective Black Brilliant Bold Future.

We believe legacy is not something we leave behind. It is something we practice together. 

And we are amplifying LANGSTON's legacy as a home for curiosity, community, and connection with the 2nd annual Seattle Black Nerd Festival on August 28-30. This year's festival is FREE and our theme is ✨Black Nerd Magic✨

During Give828, we are gathering to celebrate the magic of Black nerdom. With your support we will sustain this new legacy for blerds of all ages along with the classes, community celebrations, and free rehearsal spaces that are available year round. 

Did you know we host two festivals each year? We celebrated the 23rd annual Seattle Black Film Festival in May. It is the longest-running Black film festival in the Pacific Northwest.
