JIFF

JIFF is a Memphis-based nonprofit organization committed to breaking the destructive cycle of juvenile crime by helping young people build safer, healthier, and more hopeful futures. Since 1970, JIFF has provided intervention, mentoring, case management, restorative justice, and personal development services to youth ages 10–17 who are involved in, or at risk of becoming involved in, the juvenile justice system.

Our programs meet young people at different stages of need. The Early Intervention Program serves first- and second-time offenders, as well as youth referred by families and community partners, through a structured nine-week program focused on decision-making, accountability, life skills, and positive relationships. The Evening Reporting Center provides an alternative to detention for court-involved youth, offering intensive supervision, support, and enrichment. JIFF Case Mentoring serves youth with more serious or repeated offenses through long-term, individualized guidance and case management. Our Bloom Room program creates a safe, empowering space for girls to strengthen their confidence, develop life skills, and discover their purpose.

JIFF also connects youth and families to mental health support, education, workforce development, art therapy, conflict-resolution training, and ongoing volunteer mentorship. These services are strengthened through partnerships with organizations such as the Memphis-Shelby County Juvenile Court, the Public Defender’s Office, the Memphis Police Department, the Brooks Museum of Art, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Everystory Playback Theatre, the Excel Center, HopeWorks, the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation, and other community, faith-based, and youth-serving partners.

At JIFF, we believe that one poor decision should not determine a young person’s future. By surrounding youth with accountability, encouragement, opportunity, and caring adults, we help them recognize their potential and take meaningful steps toward a brighter future.
